Welcome to BAAWA

The Bangladesh Australia Association of Western Australia Inc. (BAAWA) was established in 1982 by Bangladeshi residents and students in Perth with the vision of fostering friendship, mutual respect, and cultural understanding. The association aims to strengthen connections among Bangladeshi Australians in Western Australia while building meaningful relationships with the wider Australian community and people from diverse cultural backgrounds through the sharing of ideas, traditions, and culture.

BAAWA proudly brings the community together by organising recreational, sporting, and cultural events, as well as social gatherings and excursions. These activities create opportunities for members to connect, exchange ideas, support one another, and contribute positively to the well-being and harmony of the broader community.

Banglar Mela 2026

The Bangladeshi community celebrated the Bengali New Year 1433 on 12 April 2026 at the Canning Civic Centre Park and Amphitheatre. This year, our celebration showcased an array of traditional Bangladeshi cultural performances, music, dance, and fashion displays, highlighting the rich heritage of Bangladesh.
